The town of Stresa is located on the shores of Lake Maggiore in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. It has been tourist country for about a century. From August 21 to September 4 it hosts the Stressa Festival - Notes from a journey with a wide variety of mostly classical music. Pergolesi Stabat Mater

The riverside city of Jesi and the coastal city of Ancona in the Marches region of central Italy and three neighboring towns host the Pergolesi Spontini Festival 2011 from September 2 until October 2. This festival features the music of the early Eighteenth Century composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, but includes works by Bach, Vivaldi, and others. Make no mistake about it. The city of Bologna in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna is a gastronomic capital. It also hosts the I Day Festival on September 3 and 4. Not all that far from Bologna you'll find the coastal city of Rimini, the birthplace of Frederico Fellini. From September 5 to September 24 it hosts the Sagra Musicale Malestina.
