Brescia is a city at the foot of the Alps in the Lombardy region of Italy. Bergamo is a medieval walled city. They both have lovely old towns worth visiting. During the month of May and June they jointly host the Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia E Bergamo with concerts almost every night. Many of the concerts are given in one town and repeated in the other on the following evening. For more information consult (in easy to follow Italian) http://www.festivalpianistico.it/dati/2011%20programma%20depliant.pdf.

Heineken Jammin Festival Mestre Veneto

Heineken Jammin Festival Mestre Veneto

You probably haven’t heard of Mestre, Veneto but I won’t say the same for the smaller city just across the bridge, Venice. From June 9 to June 11 Mestre hosts the Heineken Jammin Rock Festival that should attract 100,000 youth and perhaps a few geezers. Come early or leave late to enjoy that town next door. Milan is the capital of the northern Lombardy region. More than that it’s Italy’s business and fashion capital. On June 22 it hosts the Gods of Metal concert, quite a business, which promises to be quite a fashion show. My only question is why is this only one day. For more information consult http://www.godsofmetal.it/en/index.php.

It takes two to tango so bring a friend to the Roma Tango Meeting held in Italy’s capital of Italy from June 23 to June 26. You say you don’t tango; lessons are available. For more information consult http://www.romatangomeeting.com.

Spoleto is a walled city perched on a slanting hillside of Umbria in central Italy. Since 1958 it hosts the Festival dei Due Mondi (Festival of Two Worlds), founded by the composer Gian Carlo Menotti. This top of the line arts festival runs from June 24 through July 10. Trentino-Alto Adige is a bilingual region of northern Italy. The German speakers call it Sued Tyrol. The Sued Tyrol Jazz Festival Alto Adige runs from June 24 to July 3 and includes over 100 concerts and live acts, offered in many cities and towns of this beautiful region.
