Planning a trip to Italy? Unless you're lucky enough to have family, you'll have to find accomodations. The University of Rome “La Sapienza”, is found eastern Rome. It is the largest university in all Europe serving more than 140 thousand students. The university was founded in 1303 but many of the present buildings were constructed in the early 1930s. As you might well guess, the neighboring San Lorenzo district has quite an animated nightlife. One of the area’s imposing sights is the Castra Pretorio built almost 2 thousand years ago at the edge of Rome. After serving as military barracks it became the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale (National Library). Make sure to see the Arch of Sixtus V and the Church of San Lorenzo fuori Le Mura which gives its name to the district. The Hotel Villa San Lorenzo Maria was built as a noble residence in 1910. This hotel offers a reading room, a TV room, and a bar. Breakfast is served in the garden, weather permitting.
