The Cannaregio district is the second largest of Venice’s six districts, which are locally known as sestieres. This region is situtated in the north of Venice and, unlike some others, people actually live there. Its attractions include the Venice Ghetto, the Fourteenth Century Ca' d'Oro (or more properly the Palazzo Santa Sofia) which was literally a Golden House, Sacca della Misericordia, the Palazzo Labia, and the Casinò di Venezia (Venice Casino). For your convenience we have listed these hotels in approximate order of cost, starting with the least expensive. The Al Palazzetto overlooks the San Sofia canal. It’s quite close to the Ca' d'Oro, and you can easily walk to the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. Breakfast is served in the room. The Hotel 3749 Ponte Chiodo 3749 Ponte Chiodo is a bed and breakfast near a lovely bridge that still doesn’t have a handrail. It lies just across the Grand Canal from the famous Rialto Fish and Spice Market. During the summer months they serve breakfast in the garden, the rest of the year it’s served indoors. Guests have kitchen privileges for snacks. Be warned, there is no elevator and there are only 6 rooms. The hotel address is Calle Racchetta, Cannaregio 3749.
