Museo Correale di Terranova
Don't miss this museum
Sorrento was once a little resort city frequented by princes and aristocrats. It’s just across the bay from Naples, located not far from the ruins of Pompeii. One major attraction is the Museo Correale di Terranova that boasts a fine collection of Sixteenth, Seventeen, and Eighteenth Century paintings, furniture, and decorative objects. The Museo’s grounds are also beautiful as is its view. You should enjoy the Museo Bottege della Tarsialignea (Inlaid Woodwork Museum), Il Museo Mineralogico Campano (Mineralogical Museum) that features minerals from Mount Vesuvius, and a dinosaur collection with babies and eggs. Make sure to visit the Sorrento historic city center with its remains of protective walls dating back to the Middle Ages and classic churches. Hotel Hilton Palace
The Hotel Hilton Palace overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea. Set in a lemon grove, this four-star hotel is a five-minute walk from the city center. The rooms boast a mountain view and the suites include a terrace and a view of the sea. This recently renovated property has a fitness room, a tennis court, an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool. It provides extensive business services. You’ll find a lounge bar, a pool bar, a roof garden, and restaurants whose selections include kosher and vegetarian food. Imperial Hotel Tramontano
The four-star Imperial Hotel Tramontano sits atop a cliff dominating the Bay of Naples. It’s a short walk from the city’s main square, Piazzo Tasso. This hotel is a former mansion whose oldest wing dates back to the Sixteenth Century. Its guest list includes literary greats such as Longfellow and Byron. Among the 115 rooms are singles, doubles, triples, and some junior suites. Hotel facilities include a beautiful garden with a swimming pool, an excellent restaurant, two bars, and an Eighteenth Century meeting room with modern equipment, and a fashion show catwalk. An elevator takes you to the beach.
