Yes, it all happened so fast
Pompeii and its neighbor Herculaneum are really unique open-air museums. On August 24 in 79 A. D. Mount Vesuvius destroyed these two cities. It only took about twelve hours. People were killed by the thousands but many buildings were only slightly damaged. Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major tourist attraction. In the ruins of Pompeii you can see in extraordinary detail just how people lived at the Roman Empire's height. You might want to buy a three-day ticket for visiting five archeological sites: Herculaneum, Pompeii, Oplontis, Stabiae, and Boscoreale. Sites to see in Pompeii include the Foro (Forum), the ancient town center, the Macellum, a covered meat and fish market, the Basilica, which was the court of law and economic center, the Anfiteatro (Amphitheater), the baths, and perhaps the brothels. Don’t take along the kids if you visit the Villa dei Misteri (Villa of the Mysteries). Hotel Diana Pompei
The Hotel Diana Pompei has won the Italian Hospitality Award in the 3-star hotel category. It is located a short walk from Pompeii’s historic center of Pompeii. This is a family run hotel that features a garden with lemon and orange trees. The guest rooms feature Gres ceramic flooring and Majolica bathrooms. There is secretarial service, and should you so desire horse riding is available. The hotel offers a reading room, a TV room, a bar, a cafeteria, and a coffee shop. The four-star Hotel Amleto is located in the historical center of Pompeii, only a few steps away from the archeological site. Hotel amenities include a meeting and banquet room, a bar-cafeteria, a restaurant with terrace, a solarium, and TV lounge. There are a total of 26 single to quadruple rooms and two junior suites. Two of the rooms are suitable for disabled guests. There is a conference room with a full range of modern conference facilities. The Amleto calls itself the most prestigious hotel in Pompeii.
